Hector's World Safety Button™
The Hector’s World Safety Button™ is designed to help children take an active role in their own online safety, and to encourage a child to go to a trusted adult when there is a problem.
How the button works on a computer
The installer has setup the following items on your computer:
• The Hector's World Safety Button™ screensaver
• The Hector's World Safety Button™ monitor that swims along with a child during their time online
• Un-install function under Add or Remove Programs
Upon successful installation, re-start the computer, and you will see that the Safety Button is automatically launched.
Using the Button (all instructions describe the settings in English)
After you restart your computer, you will see a Hector's World Safety Button™ icon in the right bottom corner of your screen on the taskbar.
To choose which of the 6 characters you would like to try (you can change them whenever you want), right click the Toolbar Icon and click on Settings. On the character tab select your preferred character.
To change the size of the Hector's World Safety Button™ monitor, right click the Toolbar Icon and click on Settings. On the Accessability tab select your preferred character.
When your mouse hovers over the task bar icon, you will see text which tells you that the character is awake.
To activate the screensaver and cover the screen: Simply click on the Hector's World Safety Button™ monitor.
To move the monitor around your screen, e.g. to move her/him out of the way: Click and drag.
To temporarily hide the monitor: Right click the Toolbar Icon and click Stop. The Monitor will no longer be visible.
To show the monitor again: right click the Toolbar Icon and check Start. The character will be visible again.
To Shutdown the monitor right click the Toolbar Icon and select Exit
To Close the screensaver: Click the large “Cross” button in the bottom left of the screensaver.
To Restart the Button: Select Start->All Programs->Start up>Hector’s World Safety Button.
