Cyberbullying
If you start getting mean emails at home or at school, or mean text messages on your mobile phone, it is important to talk with an adult you trust. Such messages can be stopped.
If you are thinking about sending a message that might hurt someone's feelings - stop. It is best to treat others in cyberspace as you would want to be treated yourself.
Let's keep cyberspace bully-free!
Cyberbullying on social networking sites
Being bullied over the internet can be really upsetting. The first thing to remember is that it is not your fault.
Sometime people you know offline can use the internet to bully, but sometimes people you don’t know can send mean messages to people they don’t even know!! Here are some things you can do about online bullying.
• Tell a parent or a trusted adult-like your teacher.
• Ask the person to stop. If they do not stop after you have asked them once, make sure you don’t reply to any of their messages.
• Try and save all their messages ( you can take a screen shot of the mean messages by pressing the button on your keyboard that says ‘PrtScn’ then paste it into a word document) so you can show your parent, teacher or NetSafe what has been going on.
• All social networking sites have a button you can press to report abuse (or a link called contact us), which you can use to let the site know what is going on. Send them the screen shot (mentioned above) so they can easily understand what has been happing for you.
