Tertiary Acceptable Use Policy
Acceptable Use Policy for Every Tertiary Institution
NetSafe - the Internet Safety Group is delighted to present the following template for an Acceptable Use Policy for Staff and Students at Tertiary Institutions. The University of Auckland (UoA) partnered with NetSafe to develop materials to assist in raising safety awareness, to help in developing a security conscious culture and to guide users in the safe and responsible use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at the UoA.
As a result the UoA now has a revised ICT Statute, an Acceptable Use Policy, and a process which begins at enrolment or employment to inform all Users of their responsibilities. The Acceptable Use Policy has been finalised after consultation with a wide range of interested parties, (including legal representatives, academic staff, privacy officer, student union, administration staff and ICT security) and is now available to be adapted and used by other tertiary institutions. The copyright and intellectual property rights vested in NetSafe - the Internet Safety Group, and the UoA jointly and both parties are in agreement to make this template available. Any organisation that wishes to use this template is asked to acknowledge its source with the following words ''©2006 Internet Safety Group Incorporated and University of Auckland''.
