Police Youth Education Service

NetSafe has a formal alliance with the Police Youth Education Service (YES). Police education officers throughout the country are available to help schools with cybersafety education.

NetSafe and YES have produced a pamphlet for parents entitled Keeping Kiwi Kids Safer on the Internet. This pamphlet is available free-of-charge from NetSafe or from the Police Youth Education Service. (There will be a small postage charge on orders from NetSafe of over 50 pamphlets.) Click here to order the pamphlet, or email queries@netsafe.org.nz. Police education officers also currently use the pamphlet in conjunction with their school presentations.

Police plan to extend the Keeping Ourselves Safe and Kia Kaha (anti-bullying) programmes to include more information about cybersafety. Owen Sanders, Manager of YES, says, "Police education officers can help motivate schools to address cybersafety issues. It makes a lot of sense for NetSafe and the Police to work closely together."

Police education officers can be contacted through local police stations. Alternatively, you can contact Owen Sanders, Manager of YES, at owen.sanders@police.govt.nz.
