Principals
Cybersafety is a topical issue for principals and their boards of trustees. This is not only because of the intensity of recent media scrutiny but also because these safety issues are very much on the minds of principals as their schools increasingly embrace ICT.
Maintaining the safety of a school's learning environment is a major legal responsibility of the principal and the board. As the use of ICT within schools, and amongst young people in general, continues to grow, providing a cybersafe learning environment for the entire school community should be of central concern to every principal.
NetSafe is strategically aligned with the Ministry of Education. As the Ministry of Education's preferred provider for the delivery of cybersafety education in New Zealand's schools, NetSafe can be trusted to deliver professional, sensible and realistic support to all schools, whether primary, intermediate or secondary, large or small, urban or rural, state or private.
The NetSafe website is designed to assist all those involved in the education of young people, from principals and boards through to senior and middle managers, ICT specialists, guidance counsellors, librarians, PTA's and the general parent body. The 2007 NetSafe Kit for Schools is a valuable resource in helping to create effective policies, systems and protocols to deal with the safety aspects associated with the use of ICT devices. NetSafe's training modules offer specialized professional learning for key members of school staff. Click here to find out about upcoming trainings in your area.
