NetSafe Training Modules for Schools

NetSafe's professional learning modules are a range of cybersafety workshops designed to support schools as they develop and maintain a cybersafe learning environment. Each module complements the NetSafe Kit for Schools 2007 and offers specialised training for key school personnel, covering legislative requirements related to school cybersafety and professional, educational and technological issues.

The modules are regularly reviewed and updated to ensure their content remains topical with regard to technology, issues and incidents.

NetSafe has developed the modules through an extensive process of trial and development. Consultation groups include electronic forensic specialists, law enforcement and the Ministry of Education's ICT team, as well as ICT specialists and organisations working in, and associated with, schools.

The training modules that NetSafe is currently offering are:

• Foundations for Cybersafety - recommended for all members of the cybersafety team
• Leading Cybersafety - recommended for principals and school trustees
• Managing Cybersafety - recommended for cybersafety managers
• Delivering Cybersafety - recommended for ICT managers
• Library & Information Centre Cybersafety - recommended for librarians and information centre staff
• Supporting Cybersafety - recommended for guidance and special needs staff.
  

NetSafe has also developed training modules for counsellors and support workers which would be very appropriate for school guidance staff. These modules were developed with the University of Auckland, SAFE and NZAC. Click here to read more.
