Professional Learning

NetSafe is committed to playing our part in developing the confidence and capability of those who work in the early childhood sector.

We have developed a professional learning module for early childhood teachers and educators. The module is delivered nationally by licenced training providers and NetSafe personnel. An initial online module acts as a primer, and upon completion, educators can attend the following workshop which is in two parts:

  • Part One Cybersafety Policies, Procedures and Community Education – which deals with the management oriented aspects of setting up a cybersafety programme such as introducing a cybersafety policy as well as educating young children to be safe and responsible users of technology
  • Part Two ICT and Cybersafety – which delves more deeply into managing the technical aspects of cybersafety in an ECE service.

These two parts can be delivered to early childhood teachers, educators, service managers and owners, volunteers or association personnel. Associations can arrange delivery of the module to their staff at professional learning days. By co-operating on the organisation of logistics such as venue or catering, the per-head cost can be kept to a reasonable level.

Here is a list of the current licensed trainers and their contact emails. ECE services can contact them direct or email leec@netsafe.org.nz

NetSafe Cybersafety Training for Early Childhood

If your service or centre is using information and communication technology (ICT) and this means digital camera’s, computers, video cameras, staff with laptops, mobile phones etc then you would benefit from the information contained in this training course.

The following are a list of licensed facilitators, their contact details and the areas they are available to work so you can get directly in touch and organise the training module.
