Text Bullying

Text bullying happens when someone is mean to you by text. Text bully messages might be rude, scary, mean, or just something weird that makes you feel a bit gross or uncomfortable.

Why do people text-bully?

People often write things in a text that they wouldn’t say to someone face-to-face. That’s because they think that no one will be able to tell who they are and that they won’t get caught if they use their phone to be mean. In actual fact, everything you send on your phone can be traced back to you. That’s why it’s a good idea to never send a text that you wouldn’t want an adult, like your parents or your teacher, to see.

Always tell an adult that you trust (like a parent or teacher) if you ever get any texts that are mean, rude or that make you feel gross. You can talk to them about how you’re feeling about the text, and they can help stop it from happening again.

If you‘ve been text bullied it‘s important to remember that it’s not your fault. Anyone can be a target of text bullying. However, it can still be very upsetting to be bullied by text and sometimes it can be very scary! The good news is that you don’t have to deal with it by yourself.
