Cybercrime

It is important for New Zealand consumers who are conducting more of their business transactions online to have up-to-date information on online fraud and steps that can be taken to guard against such cybercrime.

The most important advice is simply to trust your common sense – that gut feeling we get that warns us about possible danger. So if an internet deal looks too good to be true, it probably is. If it looks too easy to make money, it’s probably a scam.  If it seems an incredible bargain, it’s probably a rip-off.

Take a look through this section to learn more about scams, advertising gimmicks, identity theft and what you can do to keep yourself safer when conducting transactions online.
